Deepavali, the festival of lights, celebrates the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil. Malaysian Hindu families light oil lamps, decorate their homes with colourful kolam rangoli patterns, prepare festive sweets and welcome guests with open houses.
It is observed in every state except Sarawak.
