Hari Raya Aidilfitri in Malaysia

Hari Raya Aidilfitri, also known as Hari Raya Puasa or Eid al-Fitr, marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting. It is the most important celebration in the Malaysian Muslim calendar and a national public holiday observed over two days.

Celebrations begin with morning prayers, followed by visits to family and friends, the giving of duit raya to children, and open houses where homes are filled with traditional dishes such as ketupat, rendang and lemang. Because it follows the Islamic lunar calendar, its Gregorian date moves earlier by roughly ten days each year.
